INTRODUCTION:

Boiler plays vital role in Power Generation Plants. If not properly designed or fabricated Boiler suffers many leakages/ failures. These failures lead to major shutdowns which results in failure in power generation

OBJECTIVES:
  • This 5-days course aims at understanding of construction features of Boilers, Basic Principles in Boiler design, fabrication and inspection, as stipulated by ASME Section I code. The course helps the participants to get a thorough overview of the ASME code requirements and their applications.
  • The course heavily relies on practical utility of the code by covering several examples, exercises and case studies

  • Materials of Constructions for Power Boilers

  • Concept of weld joint efficiency
  • Design of cylindrical shells
  • Homework Exam 1

Day 2

Session 1

  • Design of cylindrical shell

  • Calculation of Required Thickness Design Thickness Normal thickness
  • Calculation of MAWP.

Session 2

  • Types of dished heads. • Selection of dished heads based on pressure / Diameter
  • Design of ellipsoidal, Hemispherical, Torishpherical heads.
  • MAWP calculations for heads
  • Case studies.

Session 3

  • Design of Pressure Parts
  • Design of steam drums, water drums,
  • Design of risers, down-commers, headers, waterwalls etc.
