The course details about Plant Start Ups activities giving importance to basic theory, documented procedures start up models, emergency handling and sharing of ‘on field actual experiences’.
Mathematical models of Plant Start Ups
Understanding the flow diagram of Plant (P&IDs) – Safety Instructions and respective interlock / trip logics, tips from Operating Instruction Manual (OIM) – Design of Mathematical Model of Safe Plant Start ups within given time frame with lesser effluent discharge and minimum utility consumption.
Typical Equipment Start Ups
Basic theory and procedures associated for typical safe start ups of centrifugal pumps, compressors, reboilers, distillation columns, boilers, hot oil heaters, cooling towers, air dryers, chillers etc. Importance of purging, slow pressure built up and controlled heating.
Training / Inter action with operating personals
Start up detailing – Emergency handling such as Power dips, Utility failures, fire hazards and protection – documented procedures review.
Water Runs
Concepts – Activities to be carried out – Check list.
Start Up Experiences
Sharing of actual ‘on field experiences’ which has cause serious accidents – responsibilities and roles of operating persons in start ups - Start ups after short shutdowns or disturbances.
The course ideally suited for the plant & utility operating personnel, Process engineers from technical services, Fire and Safety staff.
