Objectives

 

This Five Day course is constructed in such a way that participants will go through, right from ‘basics of bearing’ to ‘advance maintenance practices’. Each points will be supported by practical cases and well explain by animations and videos.

Day 1

  • Basics of Bearings.
  • Principle of Operation.
  • Detailed explanation on types of bearing such as Plain bearing, rolling – element bearing, jewel bearing, fluid bearing, magnetic bearing and flexure bearing.

Day 2

  • Classification of bearing on type of loads.
  • Various motions permitted by bearings such as Axial rotation, Linear rotation, spherical rotation and hinge motion and their effect on bearing maintenance.

Day 3

  • Reduction of friction in bearing is the prime factor in bearing maintenance. Description of various methods to reduce the friction mainly classified by shape, by material, by fluid and by electromagnetic fields.

Day 4

  • Importance of following crucial parameters in maintaining the bearing such as

-       Speed of bearings

-       ‘Play’ affecting bearing.

-       Importance of stiffness.

-       Importance of measurement parameters such as vibrations, bearing temperature etc in maintaining the bearing.

Day 5

  • How to calculate the service life.
  • What is the importance of ‘L10’ life phenomenon.
  • Preventive and predictive (vibration based) maintenance schedule for different types of bearings with practical data sheets.
