Objectives

The course covers theoretical concepts in depth and gives the students a thorough practical knowledge of databases. The assignments will require students to demonstrate their mastery of the practical aspects of Oracle SQL and database design.

By the end of this course it is expected that the student will be able to:

1. Understand relational database concepts

2. Design and evaluate a relational database

3. Implement a relational database

4. Retrieve information from a database using Structured Query Language (SQL)

5. Understand the environment and architecture of a database

6. Understand the basic concepts behind data warehousing

7. Describe the duties of data & database administrators.
